The social court number 3 of Terrassa has annulled the appointment of two nurses as heads of service. In one of the cases it was the address of the Matadepera CAP. The court has upheld the collective dispute claim filed last February by the Metges de Catalunya (MC) union against the Terrassa Sanitary Consortium for these two appointments.

In a statement, the union notes that this is a “strategic demand that helps to clarify a frequent confusion of competencies among professionals that is usually created by the administration.” The Consorci Sanitari de Terrassa will appeal the decision.

The sentence argues that management positions can be held by professionals with an academic level and technical specialization, in no case less than that of medical personnel, taking into account their condition as physician or physician.

The Col legi Oficial d’Infermeres de Barcelona has shown its indignation at this sentence and has remarked that, by law, nurses are also doctors and their academic level and technical specialization is equivalent to that of doctors.

In the same line, the Consell de Col·legis d’Infermeres de Catalunya (CCIC) has been expressed, which points out that both the demand and the sentence do not conform to the reality of the competence of health professionals or to the organization and management model of the services of the health system of Catalonia.

In this sense, the council recalls that nurses are professionals with university degree training and full-fledged physicians, as recognized by law.
