The Superior Court of Justice of Catalonia (TSJC) will announce tomorrow at noon the sentence to Laura Borràs and the other two defendants, Isaías Herrero and Andreu Pujol, in the case that judged the alleged irregularities in the Institution of Catalan Letters ( ILC) between 2013 and 2018.
The Criminal Chamber has summoned the parties at 12:00 p.m. to notify the resolution, after several days of speculation with the possibility that it would be made public.
When the trial, in which 18 minor contracts that would have been divided to favor Borràs’s then friend, the computer scientist Isaías Herrero, were analyzed, was seen for sentencing, in February, it was already noted that the magistrates would go quickly so that their verdict is confirmed. know before the electoral period formally begins. The prosecution requested for Borràs, president of JxCat and suspended president of Parliament, six years in prison and 21 years of disqualification, in addition to a fine of 144,000 euros. The other two defendants reached an agreement with the Public Ministry and after their confession the sentence request for them was reduced. Thus, the Prosecutor’s Office asks for Herrero two years in prison and six years of disqualification, while for Pujol one year in prison and three years of disqualification were requested.
