The pulse of Podemos to Sumar remains open before the act of Vice President Yolanda Díaz next Sunday, after the failure of the negotiation on Monday for a joint political declaration, which has transferred unprecedented tension to the territorial executives of the purple party before the challenge of 28-M. In addition to the directorates of IU, Más Madrid, Compromís, Alianza Verde, Verdes Equo, Més per Mallorca, En Comú Podem, Galicia en Común and the rest of the member organizations of the Turia pact – Proyecto Drago, Chunta Aragonesista and the formations of Ceuta and Melilla–, at least two other regional directorates of Podemos, those of Galicia and Navarra, have confirmed their presence at the event on Sunday before the state executive of Podemos gives a definitive instruction. As for the Balearic Islands, the regional leader of Podemos and vice president of the Government, Juan Pedro Yllanes, has expressed his support without confirming his presence. In the case of Navarra, in addition to the regional management, embodied in the coordinator, Begoña Alfaro –who attends the regional meetings together with IU, Batzarre, Independientes de Navarra, Equo and Alianza Verde–, the current Minister of Justice has confirmed his presence of the Government of Navarra, Eduardo Santos, former deputy of Podemos in Congress.

To them could be added in the next few hours those of Extremadura, whose general secretary, Irene de Miguel, actively participated in the act of listening to Sumar in the region. It is taken for granted that if she does not attend De Miguel, she will make him part of her management. The same happens with Asturias, because if the territorial direction does not go, it is likely that the regional candidate, Covadonga Tomé, belonging to the sector that lost the regional direction, but swept the primaries. And the same thing happens with Euskadi and Aragon, which could be represented even if their regional leaders do not attend. The telephones between state Podemos and the territorial addresses were fuming yesterday. The only directions that close ranks with the leadership are Murcia, Castilla y León and Andalusia at this time, which means that the pulse that the state leadership maintains with Sumar is generating more tension within than without.

Officially, the disagreement between Podemos and Sumar before the event on Sunday at the Magariños sports center in Madrid – in which Díaz will announce that he assumes to lead a state list in December – focuses on the assumption of an open primary format for the preparation of lists of generals, but behind this discrepancy a struggle for the mark beats. Podemos wants Sumar to negotiate the format of the candidacy in bilateral terms, as it is considered the most relevant formation in the space, while Sumar, which a priori assumes the primaries, wants a multilateral negotiation with Podemos, IU and the rest of the formations who aspire to integrate into the platform. Vice President Díaz reiterated the invitation yesterday: “I would love for many people from Podemos to attend that event and, of course, its general secretary,” she said, referring to Ione Belarra, Minister of Social Rights and the 2030 Agenda.

It is obvious that behind this pulse beats the discontent of Podemos with the way in which Yolanda Díaz has interpreted the leadership of the space entrusted in her resignation by former vice president Pablo Iglesias, and what they consider a mistreatment of the purple formation, of which she never He has been part of, but to which he owes, as the leadership of Podemos insists, not only his ministry but also his vice-presidency. Podemos has convened a state citizen council for Saturday, 24 hours before the Sumar event in Madrid, in which it is assumed that the state leadership will give instructions on attendance at the event organized by Díaz. However, the imminence of 28-M will be a political factor that is as important or even more important than the directives of the Podemos executive, given that a good part of the Podemos candidates who run for mayoralties and regional presidencies are in plural candidacies, which They not only represent Podemos but also other formations, mainly the IU, which announced days ago that it would attend, with its general coordinator and Minister of Consumption, Alberto Garzón, at the forefront, together with the general secretary of the PCE, Enrique Santiago. Those who have already confirmed that they will be safe are Mélanie Vogel, leader of the European Green Party, and Walter Baier, president of the European Left Party.
