Hello Aitor. I’m addicted to raspberries, blueberries, and other berries like that. They say they are very good, right? What happens is that it is difficult for me to know how many servings of fruit I eat per day. How many red fruits do I have to eat to be considered a serving of fruit? Thank you! (SofÃa Torres, reader)
Hi SofÃa, the serving of fruit in the case of berries or red fruits remains the same for guidance, between 150 and 200 g. But although these are the amounts to obtain the classic serving of fruit, we must bear in mind that in these products we can obtain health benefits without having to reach those amounts, taking them alone.
With only 50-80 g of red fruits we find very good markers of health and very interesting contributions. So we can use them in various ways, either as a small intake of fruit, especially if we are people who are not used to very large portions, or on the contrary, it can be half a portion of fruit and accompany it with another half inside. of that same intake.
They can also be very useful tools to enrich other dishes, such as accompanying yogurt, a bowl of cereal, or even a salad.
In short, they are very interesting products on a nutritional level and it is very good that you consider incorporating them into your diet without worrying that they are not large weights similar to those of a traditional apple or peach.
Finally, remember that they can also be found in a frozen format, ideal for preparing ice creams or shakes, and although they are not usually so rich, at a nutritional level all the properties are preserved.
Good morning. It’s been a while since I went to the market to buy peas. Now that they are in season, I’m sure they have them, but I don’t dare to buy them because last year I sometimes found them very expensive. At the moment I am consuming the frozen ones. Am I missing out on a lot of vitamins with this choice? Should I give preference to fresh peas over frozen ones? Thank you very much for the consultation. (Josefina RodrÃguez, reader)
Josefina, don’t worry about choosing frozen vegetables (or in this case legumes), because the nutritional quality is hardly diminished.
The good thing about prioritizing seasonal vegetable products is more due to a question of flavor and taking advantage of the price, but deep-frozen peas are very good and they are worked in a way that preserves and the properties remain in a way outstanding.
I would recommend that you always try to prioritize fresh vegetables that are in season, but also use frozen versions to play with availability. Many times they allow us to expand the range of possibilities and access other vegetables that are not always available.
In the case of peas, many people also prefer them frozen for the convenience of opening the bag and starting to cook them. We cannot forget that many people are too lazy to peel the pod itself and remove each of the seeds. Although it must also be taken into account that this entertainment is highly valued in other regions of Spain such as Alicante, Murcia or AlmerÃa, where families put peas in the middle of the table to share and snack on during meals.
