Pilar Rubio is one of the most versatile celebrities in our country. Actress, presenter, television collaborator-to highlight, her work in El Hormiguero-reporter or model are some of the facets of Madrid. Sergio Ramos’s wife has not stopped working, and that she has been her mother four times. She hasn’t done it either, even though she lives in Paris, where she currently resides so that her partner can fulfill their professional commitments with Paris Saint-Germain. In a recent interview on the Laura Escanes podcast, Entre el cielo y las nubes, Pilar has revealed the reasons that have led her not to take maternity leave.
In her talk with Escanes, the presenter addressed some issues that she had barely spoken about before, including her reluctance to have children in the past. “I said that I was not going to have children. I was going down the street, I saw a baby and a puppy and I went for the puppy, what made me change my mind was creating the concept of family, of a home. So, there I saw it, having a person with whom I liked to have this project, it is the union of two people who love each other, and from 1 it went to 4”, expressed Rubio.
The television station discussed with Risto Mejide’s ex-wife the moment she returned to work shortly after giving birth to her youngest son, Máximo Adriano. “I was criticized a lot because I went to work pretty soon. As soon as I saw myself recovered, I went to work. I know there is maternity leave. I don’t have it, I am autonomous,” said the model, who maintains a relationship with Former Real Madrid captain since 2012.
“If I work, I get paid. If not, I don’t get paid,” he emphatically stressed. Likewise, she indicated that she had always been an independent woman. “I like not having to explain to anyone. All my life it has been like that and I will continue to be,” she said during the talk. Many tweeters have reminded her that self-employed women can count on maternity leave. “She has had 4 children, then 4 opportunities to find out that a self-employed person DOES take maternity / paternity leave, depending on her contribution base,” said a user on Twitter.
Social media has quickly filled with criticism of Rubio. “The typical self-employed person who cannot take a leave because, if she does, she does not make ends meet. You have to understand the poor thing,” expressed a user. “You can’t say more nonsense in less time,” said another. Others complained that he spoke as if he did not enjoy a privileged economy in relation to the rest. “He talks as if he were poor when we are the poor,” complains another Internet user. “When you have money for a maid who takes care of the baby, that’s what happens, you have time. Time to work and for whatever you want,” you can read in another comment.
