Atlético took all three points at the Metropolitano against Betis thanks to a great goal from Ãngel Correa in the 85th minute, the Argentine’s sixth goal in the League, a goal with which Simeone’s men won an entertaining game, but few occasions. The victory confirms Atlético in third place and leaves Betis out of the Champions League positions.
In the first half, Atlético always threatened on the right-hand side with Nahuel Molina and the appearances of Griezmann, their most incisive striker. Betis carried its greatest danger in the connection between Luiz Henrique and Ruibal, also unable to disturb Oblak.
The second half began with a header against the crossbar by José MarÃa Giménez in minute 49. Then Carrasco scored but Rui Silva prevented it with his foot. The party would gain in intensity and emotion in the last minutes. In minute 71 Koke scored but the VAR annulled the goal for offside. The Vallecano had caught a ball in the area after a shot by Llorente and a save by Rui Silva.
Very soon the chances for the Verdiblancos arrived. Juanmi, just out, had two chances. In the first he finished off over the crossbar. In the second it was a header to the center of Luiz Henrique stopped by Oblak.
The key play came in the 85th minute. Correa won a rebound ball ahead of Pezzella and Ruibal, cut several opponents and beat Rui Silva with a close shot. Betis tried to reply but Atlético resisted well behind and took a victory that they already thought was escaping them.
