The world of art is in mourning and, with these photographs, in Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia we pay tribute to the recently deceased painter, sculptor and cultural manager Carles Bros (1956 – 2023).
Born in Terrassa, he had lived in the Empordà for many years. In Llançà he is the author of the large mural of the Fish Bank that can be seen painted on the containment dam in front of the fishing port.
This 3,100m² work was the culminating work of the Art de la Teranyina exhibition, which Carles Bros exhibited for eight years in 11 museums in different countries. It is considered the largest mural in the world within the sea.
In 2013, Carles Bros received the Medal of the Government of the Generalitat de Catalunya for his defense of fish at an international level.
The Banc de peixos project is a tribute to our fish, the sea and the oceans. A message of attention to the over exploitation of fishing and in defense of artisanal fishing.
