A Real Madrid member has requested to appear as a private prosecutor in the Negreira case, considering that he has been “directly harmed” by the facts under investigation. The person concerned is Luís José S.T.V, a former judge who was expelled from the judicial career in 2019 after being convicted of mistreating his ex-partner. The former magistrate, who now works as a lawyer, has sent a letter to the investigating court 1 of Barcelona, which is piloting the case for the payments to number two of the arbitrators, in which he claims to exercise the private prosecution for the fact of “being a partner of Real Madrid for more than 40 years”. In the event that his request is denied, he requests to be part of the process as popular accusation.

The General Council of the Judiciary declared the loss of Luís José S.T.V’s status as magistrate on February 27, 2019 after he was sentenced to 2 years and 9 months in prison for a crime of habitual psychic violence and three more for threats against his ex partner. The sentence indicated that the former judge had uttered insults and had threatened to shoot his ex-partner. The resolution referred to “continuous threats, pressure and humiliation” and managed to impose its criteria unilaterally, to the point of dominating, subduing and extinguishing it, making it lose its dignity as a human person, and creating a feeling of panic, anguish and fear”.

The request of this member of the white club is one of those that the judge has on the table. The other is that of Real Madrid, which on March 24 sent a letter asking to be accused, considering that it has felt harmed by arbitrations that were “tended to favor Barcelona. In addition, it argues its legitimacy to be part of the process “to ensure the cleanliness of the competition. If his appearance is accepted, the club chaired by Florentino Pérez will have access to the entire investigation, may request evidence and must request a penalty for the defendants.

Depending on what happens during the development of the case, the circumstance could arise that Real Madrid ended up requesting a penalty for FC Barcelona if it is prosecuted as a legal entity. The penalties that Madrid could request would be a fine, relegation or even the dissolution of the club. The judge has given the parties five days to rule on the acceptance as an accusation of Real Madrid and the former member of the white club.

The Negreira case, which was prosecuted after a complaint by the Prosecutor’s Office and a complaint by referee Xavier Estrada Fernández, seeks to clarify the fate of the 7.5 million euros that FC Barcelona paid to the vice president of the Technical Committee of Referees, José María Enríquez Negreira and if said disbursements went to third parties, whether they were referees, managers or people outside the club.
