Netflix has canceled the Sex/Life series, one of its newest series on the platform in terms of genre: it was an erotic drama centered on Billie (Sarah Shahi), a bored housewife who, after becoming a mother, becomes she is seduced by the idea of sleeping with Brad (Adam Demos), an ex of hers and the best lover she has ever had in her life. But not even a promotion focused on hallucinating its audience with prosthetic penises has saved the fiction from its cancellation.

From Netflix they report that it is not really a cancellation since the two seasons written by Stacy Rukeysker, who was inspired by the novel 44 chapters about 4 men by BB Easton, brought the story to an organic end, which closes the plots for the main characters. and their relationships. But it must also be recognized that, when the six episodes of the second season were released at the beginning of March, the public was never asked that it was the last chapter in Billie’s life.

The decision has been made, in fact, following a common practice of the company: look at the consumption data for the first four weeks. And how many hours of viewing did it add up? 126 million hours of viewing, not a particularly sweet figure for a season that in its first season had caused a sensation or even went viral after Netflix’s initiative to ask its subscribers to watch a specific minute of Sex/Life.

The reason for that communicative minute was understood when watching the footage: the scene showed the actor Adam Demos in the shower displaying a huge prosthetic penis, which left Cooper (Mike Vogel), Billie’s husband amazed, who wanted to know more about Billie’s ex. his wife. It was minute 19:50 of the third chapter.

In the second season, the maneuver was repeated at minute 17:41 of the sixth episode. Once again the subscriber could see a fake penis, this time from actor Jonathan Sadowski, Cooper’s best friend, who showed how the device worked after his member had to be reconstructed in an operating room.

And who will be happy about the cancellation of Sex / Life? Possibly Sarah Shahi, the lead actress, who revealed on the Not skinny but not fat podcast, as Deadline reports, that she didn’t get “the support” she did during the first season. She explained that she did not want to put the series in a bad light but that she “definitely” did not have the support that she expected and that possibly, by saying this in front of a media outlet, she would not have the possibility of working for Netflix again. .
