Fernando Sánchez Dragó has died this Monday morning at the age of 86, due to a cardiac arrest that he suffered at his home in Castilfrío de la Sierra (Soria). The news has provoked all kinds of reactions since he has been known, both in the field of culture, journalism or politics.

The writer has starred in a multitude of controversies due to his statements, which have been branded on many occasions as misogynistic and sexist. Especially commented was the mention, in his book God breeds them and they talk about sex, drugs, Spain, corruption…, a trip to Tokyo in the 60s in which he claimed to have slept with “some 13-year-old lolitas” .

In addition to his literary side, Sánchez Dragó has appeared on different radio and television programs, such as Negro sobre blanco, on TVE, or Diario de la noche, on the regional Telemadrid. In these appearances in the media he has been where he has pronounced some of the most out-of-tone phrases, which attested to the writer’s way of thinking.

Regarding women and sex, Dragó discriminated for ideological reasons, assuring that “right-wing women fuck better, and left-wing women believe they are saving the world”. She also claimed that she had discovered “sex” with her mother, or that she preferred “whores to sons of bitches”. Finally, she came to say that her “war cry” was “health, anarchy and every night an aunt”

Fernando Sánchez Dragó was also harsh with the different laws against gender violence, assuring that they “discriminate against men” or that, in his opinion, “reporting of ill-treatment should be prohibited.”

Ideologically, the writer has been very close to the ideas of the extreme right, becoming a member of the Vox party during his last years of life. In this regard, he said that a “fascist is the one who imposes his ideas through violence and Vox is suffering from it”, or that he liked “a lot Cara al Sol, not because of Falangism, but because it is a very beautiful anthem”.
