The Vallter – Gra de Fajol route is a classic of hiking in Setcases, in the Ripollès region. At this point in spring you can still see some snow, as can be seen in this photographic report in Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia.
It is a beautiful excursion, with beautiful views of the landscape, which starts in the parking lot of the Vallter2000 ski resort, in the eastern Pyrenees, up to the top of Gra de Fajol.
You can not only enjoy impressive panoramic views during the ascent, but also (and above all) from the top of this mountain.
Gra de Fajol is one of the peaks of the Catalan Pyrenees, which takes us to an altitude of 2,714 meters above sea level, as if we were touching the sky with our fingers.
It is located between the municipalities of Queralbs and Setcases. Another possible route starts from the Ulldeter shelter, through the Coll de la Marrana.
At the top of the Gra de Fajol there was a cross, installed in 1999, which was stolen in September 2010. The Espluga Viva Hiking Center, in Esplugues, which had placed the previous one, replaced it on June 10, 2012.
