The stage alone is already scary. An old factory completely abandoned in an industrial estate on the outskirts of the municipality of RubÃ, smashed to pieces and with a few rooms still standing. Any of them could be the space chosen by five men, of Moroccan nationality, between the ages of 20 and 27, whom the Mossos d’Esquadra arrested in Terrassa this week and who the head of court 7 in Rubà sent to prison on Thursday without bail accused of a sexual offense against a woman. A particularly vulnerable victim, with a diagnosed psychological disability, and who, after taking the step and reporting the facts, on December 28, told the mossas d’esquadra of the Central Unit for Sexual Assaults (UCAS) that it was not the first time that she was attacked in a group, and that many of the perpetrators were the same.
All the suspects had in common that they were friends of an acquaintance of the victim. A man with whom the woman had had a previous sexual encounter but who on at least three occasions took advantage of the woman’s extreme vulnerability to call some of her friends and have them sexually assault her. The woman’s refusals were useless. That in all cases she reiterated over and over again that she did not want to, and that she was raped by force and violence.
At least one of the settings was the remains of an old abandoned factory on the outskirts of RubÃ. A gloomy and dilapidated space that the victim’s acquaintance took to maintain relations with her, although her intentions were different. When the woman reported the events at the Mossos de Rubà police station, the case went directly to the UCAS, where she took over an investigation that has been carried out with absolute discretion. On Thursday, Europa Press advanced the prison order for the five men, with criminal records, and some related to sexual crimes. The investigation is still open after the victim assured in her statement that there were more than five perpetrators in the different assaults. Some suspects pending to be identified.
