In a week in which the rain has once again been noticeable in the Garrotxa region, we have realized that we can already see the first rapeseed fields showing off this characteristic combination of yellow and green, as we can see in these snapshots in The Photos of La Vanguardia Readers.
Rapeseed crops are increasingly spreading throughout the Catalan regions, in this case, creating beautiful natural yellow carpets in La Garrotxa.
Rapeseed can be a very profitable crop, although drought could also affect this year’s harvest. Neighboring Osona is the Catalan region with the largest extensions of this crop, which is used to produce fodder and biodiesel.
Furthermore, in spring, the rapeseed fields create a green and yellow fantasy in the landscape, giving it a lot of color and generating life among insects.
In La Garrotxa, furthermore, the yellowish fields are framed by the mountains, which are drawn as a backdrop, and also around the farmhouses.
