The operation in one of whose registers four civil guards were injured concludes with nine detainees. This was reported this morning by the armed institution, which accuses the shooter of the crime of attempted homicide.
Following the searches at the four addresses investigated within the framework of the Sarpa operation, two of them located in the Partida El Moralet in Alicante, and the other two, one in the Partida Torrellano de Elx, and the other in Sant Vicent del Raspeig, the Agents have arrested nine people on suspicion of growing marijuana, making hashish, cocaine and ecstasy, and shipping and selling it in European countries.
This is a gang considered dangerous by the Civil Guard due, among other things, to the fact that a large number of firearms have been seized from them: seven shotguns at the home where the shooting took place and a pistol ready to fire at Torrellano’s home.
On March 28, during the exploitation phase of the operation, the agents of the Citizen Security Unit of the Alicante Command, were shot at by the father of one of the main investigated, in the house where he resides goal with their parents. As a result, four agents were injured by firearms, and another two as a result of the staggered withdrawal of the agents, to remove the wounded from the area and transfer them to a safe area.
The four searches scheduled for that day, with judicial authorization, lasted until late at night, due to the magnitude of the operation and the unexpected reaction of one of the homes in El Moralet, in which the author shot at point-blank range against the agents.
The result was the arrest of six men and three women, aged between 34 and 73, of Spanish and Polish nationalities. They are accused of the crimes of cultivation and preparation of narcotic substances for trafficking to Germany, the Netherlands and Ireland, fraud of electricity, attacking law enforcement officers, illegal possession of weapons and belonging to a criminal organization. The 73-year-old Spanish man who fired at the agents is also charged with attempted murder.
Two indoor marijuana crops have been dismantled, one of them in the other house in El Moralet, a farm exclusively for this purpose, which had a caretaker. This crop was the largest of both, with 1,150 plants. It was distributed in several rooms, and in each of them the plants presented a different phase of growth, guaranteeing the continuity of production. In the other crop, in Torrellano’s house, a hundred small marijuana plants were seized.
In addition, 2 kilograms of frozen marijuana have been intervened to prepare hashish oil; 7 kilograms of marijuana buds; 1 kilogram of hashish resin; 15 grams of cocaine; and ecstasy pills. At Torrellano’s home, the agents found drugs prepared to be sent in the same format as the one that was seized in a thermos bound for Ireland in a parcel company on March 23.
The infrastructure used in marijuana plantations, peeling machines and ozone generators has also been intervened; precision scales and materials for cutting and preparing the doses of different types of substances; extensive documentation implicating the members of the plot; 13,000 euros from criminal activity; and a 9 mm caliber short firearm ammunitioned and mounted, ready to shoot, which was located on the nightstand of the bedroom of one of the detainees.
The seized pistol is illegal and has been sent to the Criminalistics Service of the Civil Guard for analysis in case it was involved in other crimes. Mobile terminals and vehicles used for the commission of crimes have also been seized.
In the house where the shooting took place, another kilogram of marijuana buds was seized; material for mounting crops; a forged Belgian identity card, with the photograph of the main target residing at that address; seven shotguns owned by the target’s father and shooter; and a large amount of documentation on the activity of the organization.
The detainees have been made available to the Courts of Alicante, Elx and Sant Vicent, depending on the place where they were arrested, ordering the admission to prison for three of them, the author of the shots, his son and the caretaker of the El Moralet farm.
The USECIC agents injured during the entry into the home of one of the leaders of the criminal organization, all of whom have already been discharged from hospital, are recovering at their home. The agent who was shot in the hand had to undergo surgery after what happened.
