The mayor of Madrid and candidate for re-election for the PP, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, has promised this Tuesday to lower the Real Estate Tax (IBI) to 0.4%, the legal minimum percentage, in case of revalidating the town hall.

“I am going to maintain the fiscal revolution in Madrid of the last four years” so that the people of Madrid can “have more money in their pockets.” This has been detailed by the councilor during the visit he has made, together with the person in charge of Economic Affairs of the Treasury and Personnel of his campaign, Engracia Hidalgo, to the Steelcase company where they have been received by the president of the multinational, Alejandro Pociña .

Almeida, who a few days ago pointed out that voting for the PP is the “only guarantee for the people of Madrid to pay less taxes”, has seasoned his announcement with a string of economic data that “reaffirm Madrid as the economic engine of Spain”, by lead both “the creation of employment and the constitution of new companies”.

The popular candidate for re-election has estimated the reduction of the Real Estate Tax (IBI) to 0.4% in savings of close to 120 million euros. And, delving into real estate policies, he has guaranteed that he will not apply the measures that are provided for in the Housing Law. “We will continue with a policy that gives priority to supply and that there may be homes for rent in the city of Madrid,” he added.

The mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, has framed his position within the scope of his powers and has qualified that he will carry it out “without breaking the law” but taking the decisions that legally correspond to them.
