The fourth edition of the reVolta, the women’s event of the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya, which will be held on April 29 in Sant Cugat del Vallès (Barcelona), will give a leap in sporting quality, with an improvement in the level of the participants and a demanding journey.

The test, which will be held for the third consecutive year in the city of Valles, was presented this Tuesday in an act in which the organizers highlighted that the race makes the leap to the UCI international calendar in category 1.1.

Starting and finishing in Sant Cugat del Vallès, it will have three mountain passes along a 126.9-kilometre route, with almost 2,000 meters of positive elevation gain.

The route will be marked by the passage through the Alt de la Creu d’Aragall, a first-class port, 29.5 kilometers from the finish line, which is expected to be decisive in the resolution of the race.

In addition to a demanding route, the reVolta also takes a step forward in its international participation, which will be led by two UCI WorldTeams -the Movistar Team and the Israel Premier Tech Roland-, which are part of the select group of the fifteen best teams in the world.

These two teams will be joined by eleven squads from the UCI Continental category, including the Catalan Massi-Tactic and Zaaf Cycling Team, along with the Galician Farto-BTC and the Basque Laboral Kutxa-Fundación Euskadi, in addition to the French Cofidis Women Team and Stade Rochelais Charente Maritime, among others.

In this way, the international participation of more than 100 cyclists is expected, with the participation of important names such as the defending champion, the German Clara Koppenburg (Cofidis Women Team), or one of the great climbers of the peloton.

The cyclists from the Movistar Team or the Israel Premier Tech Roland, which is scheduled to participate in the Olympic champion in Tokyo 2021 Anna Kiesenhofer or the British veteran Claire Steels, will try to fight for victory.

The cyclists’ poster was presented at an event held at the Sant Cugat Town Hall, which was attended by the Generalitat Secretary for Sport, Anna Caula, the president of the Volta, Rubèn Peris, and the sports manager for the revolt, Patrícia Ortega, includes other personalities.

“The reVolta takes a step forward, with a leap in quality in the participation of the race and in the media projection. We continue to take steps forward to grow the event and take women’s cycling to the place we believe it deserves”, explained Peris.

Along the same lines, Patricia Ortega stressed that “women’s cycling is growing by leaps and bounds” and that if she had been told two years ago that this year the reVolta would have a helicopter to broadcast the race, which will be broadcast by Televisión de Catalunya (TV3 ), “I wouldn’t have believed it.”
