The Government of the Generalitat delays until the start of the next school year the aid of 100 euros for vulnerable families announced by the president of the Government, Pere Aragonès, in September of last year. In a response to a question from Junts, the Minister of Economy, Natàlia Mas, explained that they have decided not to distribute the aid through a deduction in the income statement because the most vulnerable taxpayers could not benefit, since having a very low income level are not required to file the return.

Sources from the Department of Economy added that the new aid design aims to prevent the 100 euros from being spent on something other than school supplies. Regarding the delay, the same sources recall that if it had been a deduction, the money would begin to be received from now, when the course is close to its end. And with the new mechanism, the aid will arrive in September, about five months from now.

What is certain is that the aid will be for the 2023-24 academic year and not for 2022-23 as planned. The aid was announced just when other Spanish autonomous communities were approving tax reduction measures such as deflations or reductions in the regional income rate.
