Artificial intelligence (AI) is booming. It advances at breakneck speed and experts in the field have warned of the dangers of this technology if it is not controlled and limited. Despite the known risks there are many beneficial applications for users.

And we are not only talking about improving productivity in many activities, but also about finding solutions to some of the inconveniences or tedious situations of our day to day. For example, combat phone spam. Google is working on a tool that uses AI to counter these spam calls, also known as robocalls.

Jonathan Eccles, the group product manager for Google’s app, talked about how the brand wants to solve problems related to spam calls on the latest episode of the Made by Google Podcast. In it, he explained that they are working to resolve incidents related to this type of calls.

The technology company would be working, then, with a conversational AI and in the chapter it explained how it would work. It’s about a “multi-step, multi-turn conversational AI could open up a lot of interesting doors in terms of creating this helpful, protective layer in front of every incoming call.”

This new Google function is expected to arrive at the end of 2023. In addition, it would extend the functions that Pixel devices already have with the use of AI. And it is that Google Pixel has the Screen Call function that allows you to manage these calls, although with limitations.

Although no more information is known about this new improvement with the use of artificial intelligence, it should be noted that Google could offer more details soon, coinciding with the launch of the Pixel 8 series. The date is not confirmed yet, but it could be on May 10 during Google I/O 2023, or in the fall.
