On the British island of Saint Helena, we found a very unique and exceptional pet. It is the oldest giant tortoise in the world. His name is Jonathan and he is 192 years old. Precisely for that reason, it has the Guinness record, for being the oldest land animal. The animal, almost two centuries old, is blind, but that does not mean it has stopped eating or walking. His caretakers believe that the turtle has sharpened his other senses and now responds to the voice of his “friends.”

Every day, he is guaranteed a healthy and healthy diet based on vegetables and fresh fruit and goes for a walk around the grounds. It has become an attraction for visitors to the island, which is now known for more than just being the exile of Napoleon Bonaparte.

Recently, the Duke of Edinburgh visited the turtle during his visit to the overseas territory. His grandfather, King George VI, and his mother, Elizabeth II, visited Jonathan in 1947 during his stay on the island.
