Futuro Vegetal activists have attacked this Monday afternoon with black paint the national headquarters of the Socialist Party (PSOE) and the Popular Party (PP), located on Ferraz street and Génova street, respectively. Five people have been arrested for these acts of vandalism, as confirmed to Europa Pres by police sources.

National Police agents have arrested a 41-year-old man and a 61-year-old woman for the crime of damage, resistance and disobedience to authority. As they have explained, shortly before seven in the evening these people have attacked the socialist headquarters, at number 70 Ferraz street, with a black fire extinguisher on which a poster of Futuro Vegetal was read.

At the same time, at the PP headquarters, the Police have intercepted two women aged 26 and 25 and a 48-year-old man on Zurbano street as alleged perpetrators of the attack. Also in this case with a black paint fire extinguisher with the Futuro Vegetal logo.

Activists have confirmed their authorship on Twitter. In the thread of the publication they explain that the attack has been caused to “remove the mask of all politicians who say they care about the environment and the habitability of the territory but continue to participate in a government that finances ecocidal industries such as meat.” Likewise, they directly attack politicians and accuse them of being “responsible for the plunder and contamination that the agri-food and electricity corporations are making of common water resources.”

On the façade of the building where the PSOE headquarters are located, which this Monday held the meeting of its Electoral Committee, stains of black paint extend over the entrance, erasing the party logo.

In the case of the PP, this act of vandalism with paint also reaches the entrance door and the front located above with the initials of Partido Popular. The logo, at the top, has only been lightly painted.

PP sources have told Europa Press that after seeing what happened they have contacted the Police. This morning the leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, met his management committee at this national headquarters to plan the party’s strategy, as he usually does every Monday

For its part, the PSOE has expressed in its official account that “they condemn any act of violence and intimidation against the political formations that we legitimately represent citizens.” They also stress that “we will continue to defend social justice in Spain, now and always.”

Minutes after the attack, the general secretary of the PP in Madrid, Alfonso Serrano, has assured on his official Twitter account that “the radical left tries to intimidate those who come to PP events and also at our headquarters.” In addition, he added that “34 days remain. The best response in a democracy is May 28. Faced with their intolerance and radicalism, ballot boxes full of votes for freedom with GANAS”, alluding to the campaign slogan of the Madrid president, Isabel Diaz Ayuso.
