Prime Video has confirmed this Tuesday a piece of news highly anticipated by the followers of Operación Triunfo: the platform will host the twelfth edition of the program, which can be seen exclusively in Spain and in more than 30 countries and territories in Latin America at the end of this year. In this way, the vocal talent contest that began its journey in 2001 on RTVE will become the first live weekly content to premiere on this platform in Spain.

As confirmed at an event held in Madrid in which the platform has presented more content from its catalogue, this new edition will return from the production company Gestmusic, which launched the format and will continue to include weekly live galas, as well as a broadcast 24 hours through YouTube and Prime Video.

“Fans of Operación Triunfo have enjoyed this format, which has filled the hearts of millions of viewers with joy, for more than 22 years. We are delighted that the program will return not only in Spain, but also in Latin America, and make history with the first weekly content to be broadcast live on Prime Video in Spain,” said James Farrell, Prime Video’s vice president of local original content.

“During its 11 editions, Operación Triunfo has become a much-loved program and has seen contestants like David Bisbal, Amaia or Aitana become world stars,” added María José Rodríguez, head of Prime Video original content in Spain. “We are delighted to be able to collaborate with Tinet Rubira and the incredible team at Gestmusic to offer a new version of this iconic content, including weekly live galas on Prime Video and a 24-hour broadcast on YouTube for the most loyal fan community, and all a new generation of viewers on Prime Video.”

The last edition of the program that was broadcast on TVE was in 2020, on the same channel that saw him born on October 22, 2001 and through which six different generations of artists came to pass, including David Bisbal, Chenoa, David Bustamante , Manu Tenorio, Manuel Carrasco or Vega.

The fourth edition was the first broadcast on Telecinco, from which other stars such as Pablo López, Edurne or Soraya emerged and, after suffering again over the years in terms of audience, it resurfaced in 2017 back on RTVE with Amaia Romero as winner and Aitana as second classified.
