Today begins the trial for the death of Mónica Linde and her daughter, Ciara, murdered on Twelfth Night at the hands of her ex-partner and her father respectively. The Prosecutor’s Office requests the reviewable permanent prison for the defendant, Rubén Darío for two crimes of murder with treachery and cruelty, habitual abuse and a continuous crime against privacy. He surprised his ex-partner and his daughter sleeping and pounced on them brandishing a knife and killed them. The woman was stabbed 52 times in the face and neck. “The defendant, in addition to ending Mónica’s life, caused her great suffering as a result of the large number of injuries that he caused her and the areas of the body to which he directed his attack,” says the Prosecutor’s Office, which also highlights “moral suffering.” that caused the woman “when she realized the presence of the youngest daughter and her inability to protect her.”

Six months earlier, in August 2019, Monica had informed her partner of her intention to end the relationship. From then on, the defendant continued to live at home and “began to show attitudes of control and possession” and subjected Mónica to “a dynamic of continuous reproaches, insults, monitoring and surveillance, and even physical and mental attacks, which that provoked in her a situation of deep emotional discomfort and restlessness”. During the trial, several of the victim’s co-workers will testify as witnesses who will tell the court about the problems Monica had with her ex-partner.
