A reinforcement of 1,300 municipal police officers and 200 Samur-Civil Protection paramedics will be part of the Easter security device designed by the Madrid City Council, which will run until next Sunday, the 31st and Easter Sunday.

The vice mayor of Madrid, Inma Sanz, presented the security strategy this Wednesday together with the councilor of the Center district, Carlos Segura, and assured that the municipal government expects “a lot of people in the streets”, both from Madrid and visitors. .

From the Puerta del Sol, where all the processions of the Central district will pass for the first time, Sanz has detailed that the police operation will be deployed primarily in the center of the capital and will be in charge of the agents from the Central North and Center police stations. South, both uniformed and civilian, in order to avoid theft and street vending, details the local Executive in a note.

It will be reinforced by the central security police station, with teams from the air support section – drones – and the cavalry squadron, in addition to municipal police officers who will be in charge of directing traffic.

If significant problems affecting pedestrian mobility are detected, the installation of filters, access controls to certain roads and streets, the implementation of one-way pedestrian access to streets that may be affected or their temporary closure will be assessed. .

The Municipal Police will be in contact with Metro de Madrid and Renfe in case it is necessary to cut the service at any time, and will be present in the Easter programming of the districts that celebrate it, such as Carabanchel, Villaverde or Puente de Vallecas, among others. .

Circulation will be prohibited for vehicles of more than 3,500 kilograms of maximum authorized mass intended for the transport of goods and people, with the exception of buses of the Municipal Transport Company (EMT) and tourist transport with a concession, as well as intercity buses. regular and mobile audiovisual units.

All of this will take place at certain times and in the vicinity of the processions throughout Holy Week. The City Council will soon detail these and other traffic cuts.

Samur-Civil Protection will reinforce its service with 200 medical personnel, especially on big days: Holy Thursday (March 28) and Good Friday (March 29).

They will also have 18 ambulances: 14 for basic life support and four for advanced life support, as well as 20 prevention and reaction units, 40 pairs of Civil Protection personnel on foot and four pairs on motorcycles, and a fixed device will be enabled in the Sun Gate.
