On the afternoon of this Monday, May 1, alternative trade unionism organized a march in the center of Barcelona that has demanded the complete repeal of the labor reform, the gag law and the immigration law, and the reduction of the retirement age and the working day. The demonstration, called by the Taula Sindical de Catalunya, has included representatives of the CGT, Intersindical Alternativa de Catalunya (YAK), CNT, CUERPO, Solidaritat Obrera and Cobas and political parties such as the CUP, it has been done under the motto ” May 1 class offensive”.
According to the Urban Guard, the demonstration has brought together 1,500 people and 7,000, according to the organizers. They left at 6:00 p.m. from the Rambla del Raval and walked several streets in the center, passing through the Universitat ring road, where they stopped in front of the French Consulate to show solidarity with the workers for the reform of their pensions. Before starting the march, a group of protesters have left carnations on the plaque in honor of Salvador SeguÃ, an anarcho-syndicalist assassinated 100 years ago.
Once it was finished, a small group of protesters dedicated themselves to destroying store windows, ATMs and graffiti on multinational stores and banks between Plaza de Catalunya and La Rambla.
According to police sources consulted by the Catalan News Agency (ACN), broken glass has been reported at the Zara store in Plaza de Catalunya, the Primark on La Rambla, a property with tourist apartments, a branch of Banco Santander and a store currency exchange.
