Bruce Springsteen’s last visit to Barcelona has once again left unforgettable moments that have not only been limited to his fans. The media expectation that The Boss already raises when he performs in the Catalan capital has been multiplied by the presence of illustrious figures such as Barak Obama, Steven Spielberg or Tom Hanks at his concerts.
Seven years after his last concert in Barcelona, Springsteen returned to the stage twice, with two concerts for 55,000 people each. In both he spoke a few words in Catalan, as is usual. In one of the photos that he published to say goodbye to the city, you can see the chop and the phonetic ‘trick’ that he used to correctly convey the message to his devotees at Friday’s concert.
Along with the repertoire of songs (25 in total) appears a piece of paper with the phrases he wanted to say during the night on Montjuïc. “Hello Barcelona, hello Catalonia”, to welcome the public, to whom she wanted to return the love with a “us astimem” (“we love you”).
In the cheat sheet, he also made reference to one of his songs that he dedicated to an old friend “una canso sobreda un bell amic”), as well as the farewell to the concert, summoning the fans to the same place on Sunday: “Bona nit, us astimem . Ans bayem dio menja” (“Good evening, we love you. See you on Sunday”).
Forty-two years after their first meeting, Springsteen once again chose Barcelona to start his European tour. They are the only two concerts of his in Spain.
