Almost a year ago, Ricky Martin had to face a situation that he never imagined: his nephew, Dennis Yadiel Sánchez Martin, sued him for an alleged sexual assault that he would have suffered at the artist’s hands since he was eleven years old.

A complaint that the singer wanted to ignore at first as it was a member of his family, but that he could not let go at the insistence of the young man, who is now 21 years old. The artist filed a complaint against the young man for extortion, also requesting damages. His nephew counterattacked, again denouncing the artist for assault, with the San Juan Court of First Instance granting Ricky Martin a protective order against his nephew.

Far from giving up, the young man has countersued the singer again, demanding 10 million dollars for damages caused by allegedly committing “non-consensual sexual conduct” against him since he was 11 years old.

In this new counterclaim – which was submitted yesterday before the Court of First Instance of San Juan, but until this Thursday it has not been disclosed to the media – a series of alleged non-consensual sexual encounters between the singer and his nephew, son of his sister on his father’s side, Vanessa Martin.

Some meetings that, as detailed in this new lawsuit, would have taken place in places like the artist’s car when he was going to pick up his nephew at the Sotero Figueroa school in San Juan. According to his testimony, Ricky Martin “stalked” the minor, taking him to different places in San Juan without leaving the vehicle and to lonely places to “have oral and genital sex.”

“The non-consensual sexual relations continued after middle school and during the years that the plaintiff herein Sánchez Martín was under the age of twenty-one (21). In the following years, telephone and social media communications between the parties intensified.” , details.

The counterclaim also maintains that “one year before filing the request for a protection order under the Domestic Violence Law in Court, plaintiff here Sánchez Martin constantly warned Ricky Martin that he felt he was being stalked and asked him to stop his constant communications.

Apparently, as the insistence on the part of the Puerto Rican artist did not cease, his nephew opted to take the case to court.

“The actions of non-consensual sexual contact with a minor, in addition to constituting crimes, caused enormous damage to Sánchez Martin, who had neither the maturity nor the legal capacity to consent to sexual acts initiated by an adult, in this case, Ricky Martin,” the counterclaim concludes.

For all this, Sánchez Martin indicates that “the damages for this non-consensual sexual conduct are estimated at around ten million dollars and are liquid and payable at this time.”

The justice granted the singer a protection order for stalking against his nephew, which was extended for a year last November. His lawyer has already spoken through a statement about what the artist’s nephew wanted, assuring that his nephew’s accusations are part of a pattern of “harassment” against him.

“These statements are tremendously offensive and completely false and unrelated to reality,” insisted the lawyer. “This individual has a clear agenda that is the product of a diseased mind that clearly needs help.”

In this new process, Martin requests compensation amounting to 30 million euros, alleging that his nephew’s actions caused him to cancel “million-dollar contracts and present and future artistic projects.”
