Almost on the horn, but Más Madrid and Sumar have managed to agree on a scenario of collaboration, and not competition, of the parent brand in the Community: “We celebrate having reached a bilateral agreement based on mutual recognition. Sumar, as a shared project at the state level, and Más Madrid, as the majority force in a space that is diverse within the Community of Madrid,” both parties agreed yesterday to La Vanguardia after several weeks of tug-of-war between Gabriel Ortega on the part of the first and Josep Vendrell on the part of the others.
The commitment initiated by the training led by the Minister of Health, Mónica García, comes just over 48 hours after the founding assembly of Sumar was held, precisely in Madrid.
This is a type of agreement very similar, although with nuances, to the one signed with the commons and with Compromís. And that it had resisted due to the concept that the executive led by Yolanda Díaz wanted to be applied to Madrid by not considering it a common territory – such as Catalonia or the Valencian Community – due to the differential fact of being the capital.
Although the specific details will not be explained until after Easter, Más Madrid announced to its militancy on Wednesday the existence of a principle of agreement with a brief statement with which to “calm the discomfort” that Sumar had aroused with the celebration, “ without prior notice”, of half a dozen organizational events in the region in which members of Podemos and IU have participated.
“Más Madrid”, according to sources from its executive, “has always demonstrated with actions absolute respect for Sumar’s autonomy at the national level. The maxim, in fact, has been to prioritize the common good due to the absolute conviction of the need and convenience of growing the space that exists on the left of the PSOE” (…) In no case are we going to drop Sumar, which does not we are misunderstood. But the need to agree on joint development was a red line that, in no case, could we transcend. Neither for us nor, above all, for our militancy,” the same sources insisted yesterday.
This agreement does not erase the public friction that has arose in a negotiation that, at times, threatened to break down: “If someone confuses generosity with naivety, they are wrong,” Más Madrid agreed to point out. But it greatly paves the way for the founding assembly that Sumar will hold this weekend and in which the coordination group will be elected – the highest management body between assemblies – which, barring any surprise, will be chaired by Yolanda Díaz, who will be guaranteed control of 70% of its management. national while the remaining 30% will be made up of people directly elected by the coalition parties: Más Madrid, Comuns, Izquierda Unida, Verdes Equo, Contigo Navarra and the Andalusian People’s Initiative.
Mónica García will also participate in the conclave. Although she will do so as Minister of Health and not as leader of Más Madrid. That is, as a member of the coalition government and not as a representative of the brand. In fact, the person who has replaced Isabel Díaz Ayuso as leader of the opposition in the Assembly, Manuela Bergerot, will not make an appearance, contrary to what happened in January when, during the presentation of the promoter group that has directed the organizational work of Sumar, the politician born in Argentina served as master of ceremonies. “We will participate with equitable representation,” they justify from Más Madrid.
