The 34-year-old jumper, Álex Villar, died this Friday, after jumping from a rock in Punta Calva, in the municipality of Plan, in the province of Huesca.

This athlete was one of the best base jumpers in the world and had more than 10 years of experience. However, this week his favorite sport played a trick on him.

When the emergency services arrived by helicopter at the scene of the accident, in the heart of the Aragonese Pyrenees, they could not do anything to save his life.

His best moment as an athlete was reached in the Piedrafrita Natural Arch four years ago, when he launched himself from 2,550 meters and covered a great unevenness reaching a speed of 250 kilometers per hour.

Villar was an instructor in paragliding, skydiving and base jumping. He started skydiving in 2013 and had more than 2,000 airplane jumps on his resume. A year later he started speed flying and paragliding.
