The ‘Urban Indicators’ publication derives from the European Urban Audit Project, which collects information on living conditions in the cities of the European Union and candidate countries. This is a project launched at the end of the 1990s by the General Directorate for Regional and Urban Policy (DG REGIO), coordinated by Eurostat and developed by the Statistical Offices of the participating States.
As the INE recalls, its objective is the collection, estimation and publication of comparable statistical data of socioeconomic content to know and measure the quality of life in a certain number of territorial areas related to the urban environment.
