Fiberglass is the material that turned this Italian manufacturer into a different brand. More than 40 years after presenting its first two models at the Turin Motor Show in 1982, the firm markets the Wingamm Oasi 540. The highlight of this motorhome is the large bathroom that it incorporates in its less than 5.50 meters long.

Wingamm’s history dates back to 1977 between the Italian Alps and the dreams of the Turri brothers. The family, known for its experience in the furniture sector, began its journey in leisure vehicles with a small production, converting private vans to which the roof was cut to fit a fiberglass one. The first compact motorhomes, with a monocoque body, arrived in 1993 from the Pininfarina design school (Ibis 500, Ibis 530, Ibis 570).

It was then that the Italians made the leap to the premium segment, so it was a matter of time before they opted for the chassis of the Mercedes Sprinter -while still using the Fiat Ducato and Alko-. In 2019 they launched the flagship Oasi 690 Twins, with twin beds, but the best was yet to come: the Wingamm Oasi 540.

Currently, Wingamm has a complete portfolio with models such as the Brownie (5.89 m), Ciudad Pro (5.99 m) and the Oasi range. The initial idea of the brand was to show its excellence in the well-known monocoque body, so they have worked on an ergonomic but highly refined design. The noble materials, technology and modularity make them functional motorhomes as well as dynamic, built on a Fiat Ducato.

The size of the Oasi 540 model is 5.42 meters long by 2.96 m high and 2.24 m wide, with a wheelbase of 3 meters and a turning radius of 11.40 meters. From his experience in Italian design, these models adopt aesthetic nods to an SUV with widened wheel arches, two-tone wheels and elegant decoration.

Inside, it saves space for four passengers and two beds, in which up to four people can sleep. It is accessed through the back door, a curious placement that allows better use of the interior space, granting a large corner for the bathroom. This is the most special detail of the Wingamm Oasi 540 and we will tell you why.

Wingamm has opted for a differential distribution, in which special attention is paid to comfort during the day with a full dining room and a large kitchen that reminds us of caravans. The elongated L-shaped sofa becomes a bed together with the table, while a second memory foam folding double bed descends from the ceiling.

The kitchen uses fashionable tones in interior design, as well as first-class materials to provide enough space for work and preparation of the dishes. It has two stoves, cupboards for kitchenware and a compact 96-litre fridge. The bathroom does not go unnoticed either, with the toilet in the corner area, made of solid fiberglass HPL.

The decoration is key to print that Italian sophistication, with light tones and fabrics such as leather. However, the grayish marble simile is a winning combination, with the rest of the cabinets in lowered tones and aluminum for the handles.
