The Mossos d’Esquadra have arrested this Wednesday a drunk man accused of deliberately running over a body corporal on Gran VÃa de Sabadell, in the Can Puiggener neighborhood.
As detailed by sources of the investigation to the ACN, agents of the body detected at dawn, around 4:00 a.m., a vehicle that was circulating through the urban area of Sabadell with its lights off. Once they have tried to stop him, the man has fled, skipping traffic signals and traffic lights in the direction of Gran Via.
With the aim of intercepting it, a patrol car has been located on a corner of the road waiting for the vehicle to arrive, which has slowed down as it got closer to its position. When he reached the height of the agents, however, he accelerated and invaded the sidewalk, running over one of the two agents, who fell headlong against a fence.
The driver fled while a Mossos patrol followed him in the distance. Finally, around 5:00 a.m., they found him in the Concordia neighborhood, near the Nova Creu Alta stadium. The fugitive had had an accident alone, crashing into a lamppost.
The agents arrested the man, who resisted and caused minor injuries to one of the acting agents. When performing the breathalyzer test, he tested positive. He is accused of crimes against traffic safety, attacking law enforcement officers, and resistance.
As for the officer who was run over, he was admitted to the Parc Taulà hospital in serious condition with a deep wound to his head and a fractured tibia and fibula, for which he had to undergo emergency surgery, although he is already on the ward and is recovering from the intervention.
