Follow the meteorological instability in our country. The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) forecasts for this Thursday rains and storms that could be particularly strong in the eastern third of the peninsula and in the Balearic Islands, as well as intervals of strong winds on the northwest coast of Galicia.
Specifically, Catalonia has activated the alert of the Inuncat plan due to the forecast of heavy rains in any Catalan region, although they are expected especially on the coast, central pre-coastal and the Pre-Pyrenees.
The Meteorological Service of Catalonia (SMC) expects rains that could exceed 20 liters per square meter (l/m²) in 30 minutes, in practically all the Catalan regions between eight in the morning and eight in the evening, accompanied by storms and, locally, hail.
At the same time, the agency expects showers and storms in large areas of the interior south, center, and locally strong in the eastern third of the peninsula and the Balearic Islands. In the eastern half of the Cantabrian Sea, the situation can become unstable at the last minute with showers that we do not rule out are locally moderate.
For this Thursday, in the extreme northwest, the Aemet forecasts a more stable situation, with no rainfall expected in the south of Galicia, where the skies will be slightly cloudy, with some cloudy intervals of diurnal evolution. In the Canary Islands, there will be skies with cloudy intervals, evolutionary cloudiness and some isolated showers in the afternoons in the interior of higher relief islands.
There will be no big changes in temperatures. The daytime activities will be normal for the time of year, with ascents in general in the southern half and descents in the rest of the Peninsula. Few changes in both archipelagos. In Badajoz, 31 degrees will be reached. In Córdoba, they will reach 29.
The wind will blow from the north component in the northern half of the peninsula, with strong intervals on the northwest coast of Galicia. In the Mediterranean area, predominance of the eastern component.
The rains and the lower than normal temperatures will stay at least until this weekend, with precipitation in practically all of Spain at some point in the next few days and a cool environment that will translate into 5 to 10 degrees less than usual. It will be noticed, especially in the center, east and south of the peninsula.
“Between this Wednesday and Sunday, rainfall may fall in almost any part of our country and the areas with the greatest amount of accumulated precipitation these days could receive more than 40 or more than 50 liters per square meter, as could happen, for example , in large areas of the center and south of the peninsular territory, and also in more isolated points in the northeast and around the Cantabrian Mountainsâ€, explains Aemet spokesman, Rubén del Campo.
Nor is a shower ruled out for the start of next week, which is also expected to be wet, according to the agency’s forecast.
