After a small meteorological truce, Spain faces a new DANA (Isolated Depression at High Levels), which will leave heavy rainfall in almost the entire country as of this afternoon, which has led to more meteorological alerts that at this moment are orange or yellow in several autonomous communities. The weather forecast this weekend is even more relevant because there are municipal elections on Sunday, and the rain -especially in those places where storms are expected- can greatly affect participation.

According to the forecasts of the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), for this Friday cloudy skies are expected in a good part of the interior of the peninsula, with showers and storms, especially in the central area, which may be locally strong or persistent in the environment. of the Central system, South plateau and west of the North plateau, as well as during the first half of the day in the northern half of the Valencian Community.

There are yellow warnings activated in Andalusia, Castilla y León, Castilla-La Mancha, Extremadura, the Community of Madrid and the Valencia Community due to heavy rainfall. In the case of the Valencian Community, the presence of rain and even hail is expected in an amount of up to 40 liters per square meter in one hour on the coast of Castellón and the province of Valencia, with the possibility of storms of higher intensity that could occur in a timely manner.

In the rest of the Peninsula and the Balearic Islands, showers or storms of a weaker nature are not ruled out. In the Canary Islands, cloudy skies are expected, with evolving cloudiness, and occasional showers will be probable in the interior of higher relief islands.

Regarding the temperatures this Friday, the daytime temperatures tend to drop in much of the interior of the peninsula and rise in the eastern Cantabrian Sea, where the rises can be notable. The minimums will also descend in the northwest. Instead, they ascend in the southern half. Few thermal changes are expected elsewhere.

The instability will continue for the weekend. For Saturday, locally strong storms are expected in the southern and western thirds of the peninsula. They may be locally strong around Alborán during the morning and will intensify throughout the day in large areas of the southern third, west of both plateaus, the western Cantabrian mountain range and southern Galicia.

According to the Aemet forecast, for tomorrow, the maximum temperatures will tend to drop in the southern third of the peninsula, and will generally rise in the rest of the Peninsula and in the Balearic Islands.

On Sunday, the day the municipal elections are held, atmospheric instability is expected to continue in the Balearic Islands and in a large part of the Peninsula and with showers and storms in large areas of Galicia, the Cantabrian mountain range, the Pyrenees, the Iberian and Central systems, both plateaus, the Valencian Community and inland Andalusia.

The rainfall could be more intense and frequent in the Valencian Community and in the interior of Galicia, according to the agency.
