Samantha Weinstein passed away on May 14 at the age of 28 after not being able to overcome ovarian cancer that she had suffered for two years. The Canadian actress had become one of the most recognizable faces on her country’s film scene and she had made a place for herself in the international market by appearing in the remake of Carrie.
She herself was in charge of announcing the disease she was going through in 2021. Through her Instagram account, she reported having undergone emergency surgery to remove a massive cyst on one of her ovaries. Now, her family has been in charge of announcing her death at Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto.
“Hello from the other side.” Thus began the statement that Weinstein’s relatives published on Instagram to announce his departure. “Sam died on May 14 at 11:25 am surrounded by her loved ones,” he continued. The statement has an ironic tone that seems to be made to reduce the drama of what happened. Something that fits very well with the personality that the actress had.
“After two and a half years of cancer treatment, and a life jet-setting around the world, voicing a multitude of characters, making music, and knowing more about life than most, Sam embarks on his next adventure”, ended the statement, which was accompanied by some edited photographs.
The actress’s father, David Weinstein, has also wanted to speak out in the media. As he explained in Global News Canada, “Sam was actually the living embodiment of a ray of sunshine.” But she went further than that, assuring that she “was so full of positive energy that anyone who knew her would say that she just lit up every room she walked into.”
For her part, Jojo, her mother, expressed that “Samantha changed everyone’s life. I know that sounds really dramatic, but people are really serious when they say that. Her contagious and positive attitude actually changed the way other people they live”.
Samantha Weinstein could boast of having a long film career at her young age. And it is that she began her career in the world of acting with only 6 years. Among her best-known films are A Ball Rocker (2008) or Carrie (2013).
The actress also embarked on the world of animation, putting her voice in the dubbing of several feature films. Bad Girl or Toronto Stories are other of the projects in which Weinstein embarked. If something is clear, it is that the world of cinema has lost one of its actresses with the most projection for the future.
