The acclaimed soap opera actor Héctor Parra has been tried this Thursday for sexually abusing one of his daughters, Alexa Parra Hoffman, for years. The interpreter has been sentenced to 10 years and six months in prison for corruption of minors, the maximum sentence that could be imposed for said crime.
This sentence comes just a few weeks after the artist was acquitted of seven charges for “undue touching”, causes that his daughter Alexa Parra had also initiated.
According to the statement released by the young girl’s lawyer, they have received the sentence with joy, but there is still a long way to go: “We celebrate the sentence handed down today that convicted Héctor [Parra].”
”This ruling represents progress in the search for justice for Alexa and for all the girls and boys who have suffered sexual violence in their family spaces. There is still a long way to go to achieve comprehensive repair of the damage. We are not alone, they are not alone ”, she explained very emotionally before explaining that this sentence was a recognition of the value and dignity of the victim and her mother, who suffered the revictimization of the aggressor.
Alexa Parra had a hard time making the decision to start a legal battle against her father, because she knew it would have consequences for her family, as well as for the media, but she managed to gather the strength and take legal action.
When she finally denounced her father, the young woman was 19 years old, but she declared that the events had occurred since she was a girl of just six years. On June 15, 2021, the Mexico City Prosecutor’s Office arrested Parra and transferred him to the eastern prison in the capital, where she has remained for the last two years.
The actor has always denied the facts for which he was arrested and for which he has now been convicted, for which he will not give up and together with his team of lawyers will appeal the sentence that intends to imprison him for more than 10 years.
Even though the victim’s lawyer acknowledged with enthusiasm that they are facing great progress in the case and that often these cases of sexual abuse come to nothing due to “the lack of reporting, investigation and punishment,” she also wanted to make it clear that There is still a lot to fight in the courts so that each and every one of the crimes that the actor committed with his own daughter are recognized.
