The intense rains registered this Monday afternoon in the city of Madrid have caused cuts in several Metro and Cercanías lines due to accumulation of water, problems on some roads and diversions of flights that were scheduled to land at the Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas airport.

Specifically, Lines 7 and 10 of the Madrid Metro have suffered alterations in the circulation of trains and for the moment, they do not stop at the Avenida de la Ilustración station on Line 7 due to accumulation of water, while circulation is interrupted on Line 10, between Fuencarral and Begoña, in both directions.

Likewise, the Madrid Mobility Management Center has indicated that the emergency services are carrying out an intervention on the M-30 and access to the capital via the A-2 is cut off to traffic due to the formation of rafts of water on the road at the junction with the M-50.

For its part, the General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) has warned of complications caused by rain on the A-1, between Las Tablas (kilometre 12) and Alcobendas (kilometre 18); on the A-2, between Ciudad Lineal (kilometer 3) and Alcalá de Henares (kilometer 28); on the A-3, between Santa Eugenia (kilometre 6) and Perales de Tajuña (kilometre 35); and on the A-6, between Puerta de Hierro (kilometer 8) and Majadahonda (kilometer 18).

The Madrid emergency services have intervened at various points in the city due to the accumulation of water, as well as in the removal of fallen branches on the road.

In the Madrid Cercanías network, trains on lines C1, C2, C7, C8 and C10 run with average delays of 15 minutes due to an incident in the infrastructure between Recoletos and Nuevos Ministerios, caused by the weather conditions in the area. In addition, the trains of the C3a, C7 and C8 lines of the center of Madrid do not stop at Ramón y Cajal due to the accumulation of water in the facilities, according to Adif.

Regarding the state of air traffic, Aena has warned of “strong storms” at the Barajas airport, which has caused some flights to be diverted to other nearby airports. In addition, Aena has advised passengers on upcoming flights on schedule to check with their airline for the status of the flight.

On the other hand, the intense rain that fell this afternoon in the capital of Spain has caused flooding in some areas of the La Paz University hospital in Madrid. In photographs provided to LaVanguardia, some corridors flooded by water leaks can be seen.

The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has activated the yellow warning (the lowest level on a scale of three) for storms and heavy rains that can leave up to 15 liters per square meter accumulated in one hour.
