Eleven detainees, three semi-automatic pistols seized and more than a kilo of cocaine seized is the balance sheet of a wide-ranging police operation, in which the GEOS and the air resources service even participated, against a gang of traffickers of this narcotic substance that was distributed from homes and rustic farms in various municipalities of Vega Baja (Alicante).

Those arrested, eight men and three women, of Spanish and Colombian nationalities, including the alleged ringleader, are accused of the crimes of drug trafficking, illegal possession of weapons and belonging to a criminal organization.

The disjointed gang, of a hierarchical nature and dedicated to the distribution of cocaine on a small and medium scale, even had a specific step for attracting clients and laundering the money obtained, it had a network of houses to carry out its illegal activity. and it is estimated that he distributed approximately one kilo of this drug a week.

The National Police reported this Tuesday in a statement on this operation, in which seven simultaneous searches were carried out in different locations in the Vega Baja region of Alicante, in which the agents have seized three semi-automatic pistols, a revolver, more than a kilo of cocaine, 200 grams of hashish, eight high-end vehicles, 8,215 euros in cash, six precision scales and other tools for handling and selling drugs.

Some of the seized vehicles had hidden compartments, called ‘caletas’, where the cocaine was introduced to transport it to the delivery destination.

From a house located in the town of Callosa de Segura, “the nerve center of the criminal group”, its leader had organized a network with different houses spread over different municipalities of Vega Baja and districts of Elx, mostly rustic farms far from centers urban areas, which made it even more difficult for them to be policed.

Given the large number of homes investigated and their dispersed location, the rest of its troops, including the Prevention and Reaction Unit, collaborated in the macro-police operation carried out by the Elx Police Station. The Special Units of the National Police, the Special Security Operational Groups (GEOS), the Technical Interventions Operational Group (GOIT) and the Air Resources Service of the Alicante Provincial Police Station also participated.
