The National Police have arrested a person who was traveling to France for the possession of 435 grams of ketamine during a control carried out in La Jonquera. The check took place in compliance with a bilateral agreement between Spain and France.

The agents first identified a group of three individuals who were traveling irregularly in the direction of France. Subsequently, the three passengers were searched and it was at that moment that one of them hid in his underwear a package wrapped in a bag, which corresponded to ketamine, which was quickly seized, and proceeded to arrest this person. .

After the arrest, the detainee went to court and entered prison for an alleged crime against public health. However, the investigation is still open to determine the origin of the substance and its destination. Police sources point out that this drug is widely consumed among young people who frequent nightlife venues.

Ketamine is a synthesized anesthetic that is used especially in veterinary medicine as a tranquilizer for horses. However, in recent years its use as a drug has spread, being called “special k”. If consumed in very high doses, it can cause hallucinations, delusions, loss of notion of space and time, and distortion of reality. It can also cause heart problems, respiratory problems, paranoia and anxiety, as well as having a high risk of overdose.
