A decision had to be made and the rescue team of the Alicante Provincial Firefighters Consortium did so. On a festive day of good weather and a large influx of hikers in the Alicante mountains, he has been forced to attend two consecutive rescues in nearby mountainous areas, and circumstances have made it advisable not to return to the base between one incident and another.

The first rescue took place in the Forat of Africa, in Confrides, where a 49-year-old woman suffered a dislocated shoulder after a fall. The Alpha 01 helicopter, together with the Mountain Rescue Group (GER), has picked up the injured person and, while carrying out the relevant treatment and preparing his transfer, they have received a second notice and have chosen to proceed directly to the second incident, which occurred in the Aitana mountain range, very close to the military base

In this second accident, a 55-year-old man had suffered an open wound to his head after a fall, which caused a gap when he hit a stone. The same rescue team, led by the Alpha 01 helicopter and the GER, has descended in search of the injured man.

Both cases have been efficiently coordinated and both injured have been transferred to Sant Vicent del Raspeig Park, where BLS (Basic Life Support) services were waiting to provide additional medical care.

It is common, especially on holidays, for the rescue team of the Alicante Provincial Fire Consortium to carry out more than one service, but it is not so common that time pressure recommends coordinated interventions like today’s.

It must be taken into account that the first warning occurred at 1:40 p.m. and the second at 2:37 p.m., when the team was involved in the Confrides incident. And the double rescue had concluded at 3:34 p.m., when the injured were placed at the disposal of medical services.
