Ayuso and Almeida are not the only ones who have obtained absolute majorities this 28-M in Madrid. It is not an exclusive success of the PP. Not even from the PSOE. Let them tell the Puentes Viejas Independent Group that, with 252 votes, has swept the polls in this municipality located north of Madrid, almost reaching the border of the Community with Castilla y León. And it is not an isolated case.

The independent parties and neighborhood or municipal candidacies have won in 26 of the 179 towns in the Community of Madrid, most of them small or medium-sized, many located in the northern part of the region, according to the electoral map set up after yesterday’s municipal elections.

From north to south, we find La Acebeda, a town of 63 inhabitants where the La Acebeda Open Council has won with an absolute majority of 30 votes. In La Hiruela, with a similar population, the Electoral Association of La Hiruela won by an absolute majority of 36 votes. In the neighboring town of Puebla de la Sierra, the candidacy ‘People, Tradition and Future’ will govern, by removing 2 of the 3 councilors in contention with 23 votes.

In Villavieja de Lozoya, an independent list with 114 votes has also achieved the Mayor’s Office. In neighboring Navarredonda and Salvanés, an independent group won the elections with a large majority, which obtained 52 votes.

In Garganta de los Montes, also in the Sierra, the Council group won, with 123 votes. In nearby Valdemanco, the ‘Avanza Valdemanco’ candidacy has also achieved an absolute majority. In Cabanillas de la Sierra ‘Somos Cabanillas’ has won, with 278 votes, compared to 275 for the PP. Meanwhile, in the neighboring town of Venturada, another independent party, which received 804 votes, rose with the mayor’s office.

In Torremocha del Jarama, a local party has also won, with 390 votes, while in neighboring Valdepiélagos, where the Independent Candidacy of Valdepiélagos won the Mayor’s Office. In Valdetorres de Jarama, the Association of Neighbors for Progress will govern for four years. In Ajalvir he has also won an independent grouping, but not with an absolute majority, so he will have to negotiate with other parties.

In Villalbilla, a municipality of 15,000 inhabitants, the Municipal Independent Platform has won the Mayor’s Office with an absolute majority. Pezuela de la Torres has a much smaller population, where an independent formation has also achieved an absolute majority with 308 votes. In the nearby Olmeda de las Fuentes, the Independent Candidacy of Olmeda will be governed from now on. And in Ambite they also do it, with 232 votes.

On the other hand, in Villanueva del Pardillo the Local Party has won again, expanding the majority but not reaching the absolute majority, so it will have to negotiate with other groups. In nearby Fresnedillas de la Oliva, he has also won a municipal candidacy and will govern. In Navas del Rey he has revalidated the ‘Caseros’ party for Mayor, while in the nearby Aldea del Fresno he has won Independientes for Aldea, although without an absolute majority.

In Serranillos del Valle, Iván Fernández, from the ‘Transparencia, Democracia Serranillos’ party, will once again be its councilor with a landslide victory. The Independent Group of Torrejón de la Calzada has won again in that municipality, but this time it will govern, by obtaining an absolute majority.

In Chinchón, the residents have given a majority to the ‘Avanza Chinchón’ party, taking it away from another independent formation, now in power, Agrupación Transparencia y Servicio, which has achieved second place. In Villarejo del Salvanés, the ‘With You’ candidacy led by the current mayor, who was presented four years ago by Ciudadanos, has won.

In these elections, the independent formations have lost their reference, Vecinos de Torrelodones, which had been in power for three legislatures, one of the first neighborhood parties to achieve this, and a reference for others such as Moralzarzal. There, Vecinos por Moralzarzal have also lost their majority and the PP will now be able to govern with the support of Vox.

Among the positive for these political spaces is that another of its references, Unión por Leganés, has achieved three councilors and has become the key for the socialist Santiago Llorente to remain in power or have a change with the ‘popular’ Miguel Ángel Recuenco at the Mayor’s Office. In other municipalities they can also be key to forming majorities, such as Neighbors for Arroyomolinos in that locality.
