David Leo, known as “el Estudiante” in the television program “El cazador” on TVE, faces charges of sexist violence, according to what the newspaper “Público” has published exclusively. The Prosecutor’s Office has filed an accusation against him, requesting a year in prison for a crime of physical injury and harassment towards his ex-partner.

Leo, 33, is from Malaga and graduated in Hispanic Philology. In addition to participating in ‘El cazador’, he won the jackpot of 1,886,000 euros in the ‘Pasapalabra’ program in October 2016.

The charges filed by the Public Ministry are based on two incidents: in the first, which occurred on February 25, 2023 in a hotel in Valencia, David Leo allegedly threw a water-soaked towel at his partner and directed humiliating insults at him. Three days later, in a hotel in Santiago de Compostela, it is alleged that he threw a cigarette in her face, struggled with her, kicked her and made her fall to the ground.

The case has been scheduled for a hearing in April 2024. The prosecutor requests a year in prison for the crime of injury in the context of male violence, along with a restraining order of 800 meters and a ban on communicating with the victim. for three years. A penalty of four months of fine and compensation of 400 euros for the crime of minor harassment is also sought.

The complainant has received psychological treatment and support from the Malaga Women’s Institute.
