The Investigating Court 5 of Granada keeps open some preliminary proceedings focused on an alleged case against urban legality in the City Council of Maracena (Granada), a parallel and differentiated case to the one that investigates the kidnapping of the former socialist councilor Vanessa Romero who was put in the media spotlight.

These are proceedings that are independent of the investigation opened by the same investigating court against the alleged kidnapper of the socialist councilor, according to judicial sources.

They are also different proceedings from the special case opened by the Criminal Chamber of the Superior Court of Justice of Andalusia (TSJA) regarding the possible participation of the regional deputy Noel López, until this week number 3 of the PSOE-A, of the acting mayoress , Berta Linares, and the Town Planning Councilor Antonio García Leiva.

The investigation refers to three records of planning licenses signed or authorized by the acting mayoress and socialist candidate for re-election.

For this reason, the Court has offered him the possibility of appearing in the case to make it easier for him to be aware of each of the proceedings and taking testimonial statements that are going to be practiced in case they result in illegal criminal charges against him. .

Although the investigations carried out by the Judicial Police pointed to possible irregularities in five urban records, the head of the investigating court has reduced the number to three, since in the other two cases the possible crimes would have prescribed.

Investigating Court 5 has also demanded that the Maracena City Council remit urban planning documentation related to the files under investigation.

In a statement, the acting mayoress of Maracena has stressed that she will collaborate with justice after receiving the judicial notification this afternoon with the opening of an investigation into a possible case of urban corruption in the City Hall.

“They have finally asked us for information on the files mentioned in the court order, and we are working diligently to provide all the necessary documentation and to verify the different information,” Linares said.

The socialist has also considered that this matter “could have been clarified much earlier” or after last Sunday’s municipal elections, which according to her would have avoided a “parallel trial.”

“It is important to remember that until now only the defendant’s version has been presented, and that it has already been shown to be false,” Linares summarized.

The opening of the case occurs after the Investigating Court 5 has received the report prepared by the Civil Guard on the documentation found in the vehicle of the former councilor of Maracena Vanessa Romero on February 21, the date on which she was kidnapped. .

According to the City Council, the new proceedings will focus on determining whether there are signs of legal fraud in the files that will be investigated.
