Three Chinese astronauts have returned to Earth today after a six-month stay in space. The capsule carrying the taikonauts of the Shenzhou 15 mission has landed in Mongolia.

They have returned home after a replacement crew arrived at the Tiangong space station earlier this week. China built its own space station after it was barred from the International Space Station because of US fears of the Chinese space program’s ties to the military. China added a third module to the space station in November. Authorities have announced that they planned to expand it, along with launching a manned mission to the moon before 2030.
