The years take their toll, especially if substances such as alcohol or drugs have been abused at an early age. Singer Liam Gallagher, leader of the renowned band Oasis, knows this well. The performer recently revealed that he is trying to improve his health to “undo years of partying” amid his battle with arthritis and an autoimmune disease.
The 51-year-old artist has revealed how age is taking its toll on him after years of a bad life. Gallagher assures that he now has a very different lifestyle than he had during his youth. In 2023, Liam revealed that he needed his hip joints replaced due to arthritis, a condition that was the result of a thyroid problem. He then underwent major hip surgery.
It is not the only health problem that Gallagher has had to face in recent years. In 2017, she was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s disease, an autoimmune condition of the thyroid gland. Additionally, she also suffers from psoriasis, a skin disease that causes a rash with red, scaly, itchy patches. “You have to undo all the bad work you’ve done by losing your mind and all that,” she now tells The Sun.
“It’s time to undo it all now and get back to reality. All those things you thought were great at the beginning… it’s time to get healthy,” the artist said. As he now claims, his “health journey” has led him to reduce his alcohol and drug consumption and now he gets up at 4 a.m. every day to enjoy the day. “As you get older, life is precious, you know what I mean? I’m a pretty carefree guy. I love getting up early in the morning,” he said.
“But I’m definitely in a fall. But we’re all going to die, right?” he continued. Regarding his hip problems, last year he said that “I have arthritis, very bad.” “I went to get checked out and my bones are shattered. The lady said, ‘Oh, you might need hip surgery, a replacement,'” she revealed. At the time, she claimed that she did not want to undergo the operation because of the “stigma.”
“I think I’d rather just be in pain. Which is ridiculous, obviously. I know that. Just get them fixed. But it’s the stigma to say you’ve had your hips replaced. What’s next?” he said. “When it’s cold, my hips are like clicking, cracking and popping. I need warmth. I can’t sleep at night because of the pain. Tossing and turning. So I’m taking herbal sleeping pills and they’ve saved my life.” “One of them, seven hours out, no pain, nothing,” he told MoJo magazine.
“The new thing I have is Deep Heat. I put my knees, hips and calves in there, and then I get in the steam room for as long as I can stand it,” he explained. In the interview he also talked about his psoriasis, saying he once met a fan who thought he had cocaine in his hair, but it was actually itchy bits of skin from his scalp.
“I have psoriasis, so obviously I had been scratching it during the day and there were little whiteheads and shit,” she explained. “They took it out of my hair and put it on their gums and stuck it in their damn nose!” She said. Without a doubt, now Liam has opted for a life away from addictions, something that, at least, will help his health not to get worse.
