As expected, the Rose Ball, held this Saturday at Sporting Monte-Carlo’s La Salle des Étoiles, was a complete success. The 68th edition of the gala kicked off spring, as well as the beginning of the festivities in the Principality. If the last edition had Isabel Pantoja as the Spanish representative, this year all eyes have been focused on Ágatha Ruiz de la Prada, who has not disappointed with her extreme styling for the ‘disco’ theme.
The gala began at 8 p.m. and featured a performance by Gloria Gaynor as a special guest. The theme was the disco aesthetic, materialized by Christian Louboutin and inspired by the 70s and 80s. Last year it shined with the Bollywood theme. It is worth remembering that until 2018, Karl Lagerfeld was in charge of the organization and ensuring that no detail was missing in the celebration. However, after his death, it was the French designer who took over as artistic director. “A shower of glitter has taken over Monaco,” the organization said in the days leading up to the gala.
Ágatha Ruiz de la Prada looked spectacular with one of her original and extreme designs. The aristocrat attended with her partner, José Manuel Díaz-Patón, and gave a twist to the theme proposed by the French designer. The designer also attended with a huge dress with colorful bows that showed that she is well informed about the ‘flirty’ trend.
If anything has defined the looks of Monegasque celebrities and high society, it has been sequins. Two of the most notable guests of the night wore them: Carolina of Monaco and Princess Charlene. Both looked spectacular with clothes full of paillettes. The wife of Albert II of Monaco wore a sequin jumpsuit whose waist and sleeves perfectly adapted to her body. The flared pants and the general design were a success, totally in line with the theme.
For his part, designer Christian Louboutin assumed the artistic direction of this event after the death of Karl Lagerfeld, and he put on a curly afro-style wig to remember the disco aesthetic of past decades, in the pure style of the famous New York club Studio 54 The designer looked spectacular in a brown suit, although the disco touch was clearly given by the wig.
Another of the most elegant guests was Beatrice Borromeo. The young woman wore a champagne-colored fringe dress with sequins. Her design didn’t adapt too well to her waist, but the truth is that her look was spectacular. Pierre Casiraghi’s white suit was a hit, and both combined perfectly.
Another attraction of the night was Carlota Casiraghi. The eldest daughter of Carolina de Monaco opted for a slip dress that presented her body nuanced with a geometric finish in a very innovative checkerboard pattern, from Chanel. For her part, Beatrice Borromeo opted for a fringed and sequined Dior dress, which she accompanied with jewelry from the same brand. For her part, an elegant Alejandra from Hannover wore a black model, which she did not have much to do with the theme, but she did demonstrate her good taste when it came to dressing.
The Princess Grace Foundation holds this charity gala every year, and more than 800 guests attend and raise money for families of hospitalized children. The dream outfits and the different dress codes for each edition have always been a draw for the media. At this dinner, royals, socialites and celebrities come together for a good cause. That is why the enormous display of glamor and elegance has not been surprising.
