The Almería town of Vícar is mourning today for the death this Tuesday of a worker, whose identity has not been disclosed, in a work accident. The victim was run over by a truck when the operator was unloading.

The work accident occurred in a disseminated area located in a place known as Piedra Roda, in the Los Bailarines roundabout, at around 8:25 a.m., when the health services alerted the emergency coordination center of the accident.

According to sources from the Consorcio de Bomberos del Poniente, who had to intervene to free the victim trapped under the rear wheels of the vehicle, the event could have occurred because the handbrake was not on while the operator was unloading.

Local Police officers, the Health Emergency Center 061, belonging to the Andalusian Health Service, Firefighters and Civil Guard have intervened at the scene. The 112 has also alerted the Labor Inspectorate and the Occupational Risk Prevention Center of the fatal accident.
