The Ter river has changed its appearance, as we can see in this series of images captured in Manlleu and Torelló for Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia.

The river Ter has gained flow, a visible rise caused by the last rains at the end of May and the beginning of June, which can benefit the Sau reservoir, one of the reservoirs that is suffering the most from the drought.

The Ter rises in Ulldeter at an altitude of 2,480 metres, at the foot of a glacial cirque in the Ripollès Pyrenean region, very close to the town of Setcases. This river is very important in the history of the development of the towns of Osona through which it passes, especially with regard to industry.

One of the excursions that can be done to check the rise of the river with the latest rains is to follow the Vora Ter path, which starts in Torelló and extends for 20 kilometers following the river through small towns up to the town of Manlleu.

The Sau reservoir, in the municipality of Vilanova de Sau, at the foot of the Guilleries massif, belongs to the Ter river basin. It is part of a system of three swamps (along with those of Susqueda and Pasteral) that unites the counties of Osona, in the province of Barcelona, and La Selva, in the province of Girona.

In recent days, the Sau reservoir is beginning to recover water, already standing at above 15% of its level when it had been below 10%, although far from its normal flow and still in a state of drought.

While the Ter river proudly shows its rise, the Salt del Mir still has little water, as can be seen in this other series of photographs.

This beautiful 35-meter-high waterfall is located in an extraordinary natural setting in the Osona region, where you can breathe calm in the middle of nature.

The Salt del Mir transports us to the Bellmunt mountain range, between Vidrà and Santa Maria de Besora, across the Ripollès and Osona counties.

The itinerary to reach Salt del Mir is easy, short and suitable for all ages, although it is better to be careful when stepping on the wettest areas so as not to slip.

From the area where the La Cabanya del Mir restaurant is located, there is a path that leads to the waterfall in less than half an hour.

The best time to visit Salt del Mir is in the rainy season because much more water falls from the waterfall. Right now, it doesn’t look so spectacular because of the still drought.

If we situate ourselves in the lower part of the waterfall we can observe the accumulation of lime and several bowls, cavities formed by the water, along the stream.
