The general secretary of the PP tried to reassure this morning about the role that equality will have in a Feijóo government, after the president of the PP put the Ministry of Equality as an example of an executive inflated with departments, which at other times was part of other ministries, and among them he cited that of Consumption and that of Equality, created for the inclusion of members of Podemos in the cabinet of Pedro Sánchez.

Cuca Gamarra, in an interview on TVE, did not reveal whether or not there will be a Ministry of Equality in that Executive of Feijóo that will reduce the number of ministries from 22 to 13, as the popular leader has assured, but he did affirm that in the Government of PP there will be “true equality policies”, and what there will not be is a Ministry that, as in the case of Pedro Sánchez, was created “with the sole objective of delivering equality” to Podemos, without the socialist part of the PSOE could get a word in and “turn us women into a toy that Pedro Sánchez handed over to Podemos” to “stay in power.”

“What the Spaniards can be very clear about is that there would not be a Ministry of Equality with the sole objective of delivering equality to Podemos 1 or Podemos 2” and “thus turning women into a toy that Sánchez handed over to Podemos, to a minority in order to stay in power,” said Cuca Gamarra.

The number two of the PP is convinced that Alberto Núñez Feijóo will reveal before the elections on July 23 what the Feijóo government will be like and “how all the policies will be coordinated”, but she anticipated that what she is sure of is that “True equality policies” will be deployed with a PP government, so that the policies that are carried out “from the Government’s equality area will be transversal policies.” “I will go further. Never since a government led by Feijóo would a law like the ‘only yes is yes’ law have been approved, which has put more than 100 sexual offenders on the street and has reduced the sentence to more than 1,100.

In this regard, the number two of the PP promises policies “serious, mature and above all that women are not given as a bargaining chip for a childish feminism that, in the end, has made us go backwards.”

“I am convinced that many left-wing feminist women do not agree at all, no matter how long the Ministry of Equality has existed, with the equality policies that have been promoted by the Government and especially with the feminist advances that Sánchez has handed over to Podemos and have become setbacks”.

During the interview, the general secretary of the PP assured that the PP project “is a reformist project that seeks to recover great social consensus on cross-cutting issues and not hand it over to minorities to stay in power.” In this project, Gamarra assured, it is where the repeal of sanchismo to which the PP constantly refers, and which Alberto Núñez Feijóo has materialized in a series of laws, including those of only yes is yes or the trans law, fits.

“The PP wants to repeal sanchismo in substance and in form, and that includes the repeal of some laws,” explained the general secretary of the PP, who cited among them, as Feijóo had done the day before, the Democratic Memory Law , because Pedro Sánchez “put the Democratic Memory Law in the hands of Bildu” and in the opinion of the PP “democratic history cannot be written nor can it be in the hands of Bildu”.
