The president of the Congress of Deputies, Meritxell Batet, will repeat as head of the PSC list for Barcelona at the next general elections.

As the Catalan Socialists have announced in a statement, the proposal to place Batet as a candidate again will be presented to the PSC electoral commission, which will meet this coming Sunday, to be ratified by the party’s national council.

The current president of Congress will be accompanied in the top positions by ministers Miquel Iceta and minister Raquel Sánchez

This will be the fourth time that Batet will be the head of the PSC list for Barcelona in a general election, after doing so in 2016 and in the double electoral call of 2019.

In the previous elections, those of 2015, she was the number two of the PSOE in Madrid, doing a tandem with Pedro Sánchez.

After a brief stint at the Ministry of Territorial Policy and Public Function, where she spent less than a year, Batet has been the president of the Congress of Deputies since May 2019.

In 1995 she graduated in Law from the Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona, ​​where she was a professor after completing her doctorate in Public Law.

His leap into politics gave him eleventh place on the Barcelona PSC list in the 2004 general elections as an independent. , 2011, 2015, 2016 and 2019.
