The debate on the so-called “rental wombs” and, specifically, the case starring Ana Obregón has been one of the issues raised in the Spanish, Language and Literature exam of the University Access Test (PAU) in the Valencian Community that was held this Wednesday.
In the test, the student body was asked to analyze an editorial from the newspaper El PaÃs, published on April 1 with the title “Vientres de alquiler”, as a result of the controversy that arose after learning that the actress and presenter Ana Obregón, 68 years old, had used surrogacy in the United States to become a mother again.
The exam raised a critical commentary on the text, with a maximum score of four points: two comprehension points with a brief summary of the text and on the thesis of the article, and another two on production, with a text of between 200 and 300 words that Answer the question: “Should surrogacy be authorized in Spain?”.
Two students consulted by this newspaper have pointed out very different things. A student, named Chloe, has indicated that “it was an easy topic, I was able to do it well”. Another, however, named Pau, has stated that “I had no idea about the case of Ana Obregón and surely I have failed.”
It also included six questions on the knowledge of the language article, with a maximum score of six points, and a last part on Literary Education with texts by Federico GarcÃa Lorca and Carmen MartÃn Gaite.
A total of 22,951 students are examined until this Thursday of the PAU in the Valencian Community, 60% women and 40% men, and only 1,716 from training cycles.
